Mesh Wireless Networks

Wireless mesh networks, an emerging technology, may bring the dream of a seamlessly connected world into reality.

Traditional networks rely on a small number of wired access points or wireless hotspots to connect users. In a wireless mesh network, the network connection is spread out among dozens or even hundreds of wireless mesh nodes that “talk” to each other to share the network connection across a large area.

In a wireless mesh network, only one node needs to be physically wired to a network connection like a DSL Internet modem. That one wired node then shares its Internet connection wirelessly with all other nodes in its vicinity. Those nodes then share the connection wirelessly with the nodes closest to them. The more nodes, the further the connection spreads, creating a wireless “cloud of connectivity” that can serve a small office or a city of millions.

Data Network Wiring Throughput

  • To meet the demands of High-Speed Internet connections and large Data Throughputs you need an infrastructure that can handle the heavy load.
  • Cat5 Ethernet can handle a maximum of 100 Mbps data transfer speed up to 328 feet at 100 MHz. Cat5 is the old school thin white ethernet cable that has been installed in residential for many years.
  • Cat6 Ethernet can handle a maximum of 10 Gbps data transfer speed up to 164 feet at 250 MHz. Cat6 is a little thicker than its predecessor and was the entry-level choice for residential and some businesses. This becomes the bottleneck in networks as we see continuously faster Internet connection in both homes and offices.
  • Cat6a Ethernet can handle a maximum of 10 Gbps data transfer speed up to 328 feet at 500 MHz. Cat6a (Augmented) can maintain higher transmission speeds over longer network cable lengths. With Internet speeds leaving the home or business from 800Mbps up to 2Gbps Cat6a cable is currently the right choice for most circumstances.
  • Cat7 Ethernet speed is 10GBASE-T Ethernet over the full 328 feet. Each individual pair is shielded and an additional layer of shielding over the entire cable. The shielding helps prevent external electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from affecting the data transmission over the cable. The newer “Class F” cable is an ideal choice for application environments where transmission of frequencies up to 600 MHz is required.
  • Cat8 Ethernet is the latest IEEE standard in copper Ethernet cable can handle a maximum of 40 Gbps data transfer speed at 2000MHz. The Cat8 Ethernet cable can eliminate crosstalk and enable higher data transmission speeds by wrapping each twisted pair in foil. Cat8 cable can support 25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T Ethernet, which can be used in data centers, high-speed and bandwidth-intensive environments.
  • Megahertz is a clock speed measurement of how fast something can go. Think of MHz as the width of a water pipe. The wider the pipe, the more water it can handle.

Fiber Optic Cabling Throughput

  • Fiber optic cable contains strands of optically pure glasses. For the glasses, they are thinner than a human hair and can carry digital information over a long distance.
  • Digital signals are sent as pulses of light without interference or limitation.
  • Fiber optic technology allows for more data to be transferred in a shorter time than the older internet technology, like cable and DSL. For internet users, the higher data rate will lead to faster fiber optic cable speed, higher-quality streaming, and a better internet experience.
  • The fastest fiber-optic cable speed today in a business gigabit network service is 100 Gbps. However, the theoretical maximum speed of fiber optic cable is incredibly high, potentially reaching speeds of 44 terabits per second (44,000 Gbps)
  • With superfast fiber-optic cable speed, enterprises are able to move data more quickly among users, customers and the cloud. Productivity is enhanced, as users no longer need to wait for uploads and downloads to finish. And high fiber-optic cable speed provides mission-critical and cloud-based applications with the bandwidth they need for optimal performance.

TESTIMONIALS

What People Are Saying

I installed a security camera system for my rental property. Phil was a professional from the start. He was very methodical and knowledgeable. Aside from his ability to quote a good price, select the right equipment and efficiently install the equipment, he called me a few days later to ask me how everything was going and to contact with any concerns. That by itself is stellar customer service!!!!

We love the convenience of PC Solutions! After our initial setup, they were able to provide remote assistance and troubleshooting which saves money for on-site visits. Being a successful small inn on Cape Cod, we decided to go with the best. PC Solutions is a great value with a professional staff.
